Blue Mountains is a town in Grey County in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. It is located where the Beaver River flows into Nottawasaga Bay. hours north of the heart of downtown Toronto, lies Blue Mountain. We live on Lake Huron, and it takes us an hour and 15 mins to get there. Blue Mountain is quite centrally located for anyone wishing to visit. It gives you a sense of going on vacation without leaving the country. The best part? You are not driving for hours to get there.
Blue Mountain with kids
Blue Mountain Village is extremely scenic engulfed by beautiful trails and amazing activities for kids of all ages. If you want to participate in these activities or even just sit back and relax, there are a ton of choices for everyone in the family to enjoy. There are stunning spas in Blue Mountains for those wishing to end their day soaking in the beauty of the mountains or just put their feet up and relax.
The centre of the village holds live events and bands while kids can enjoy the free Hola hoops or walk through candy stores. Feel like going on a brewery tour? Blue Mountain has you covered! They offer brewery tours with tastings or a wine and cider tasting tour.
Best time to visit Blue Mountain
There is no better time to visit than the season you pick. Although summers are the best (between June – August), winters are a hot favourite time to visit because of all the winter activities the village has to offer. Spring and Fall are also a great time to visit as the village is bursting with activities. All this to say, no matter when you visit, you can’t go wrong with your choice.

So, let’s jump right in! I want to explain the different kinds of passes available, how much they are and what they include. It took us a while to figure this out and wasted time trying to do this there so this post will give you an idea of what options you have and choose the right pass for you and your family.

Types of passes available
Now let’s talk about the pass options you have. There are three kinds of passes you can buy:
- All-day play pass
- Explore all-day pass
- Play as you go
The all-day pass is a pass that you can purchase and go on almost all rides. The explore pass gives you access to some of the rides mentioned above and the play as you go are tickets you can purchase for each ride separately.

Click here to get prices for the all-day play pass and explore-all-day pass. Please note: If you purchase these passes at least 7 days in advance, you get a 15% discount. If you plan to buy tickets for each ride separately, they range from $13-$20/ride ranging in price from Tykes to adults.
If you plan to go on at least two rides, the explore all-day pass makes up for the price you would pay for separate tickets but does not give you access to all rides.
If you plan to go on most of these rides and spend the entire day doing activities, the all-day pass is worth it. Most rides close by 5-6pm so please keep this in mind when thinking about the kind of pass you would like to purchase.
Where to stay
You will not run out of options on where to stay in Blue Mountain with kids. It is obvious that if you are visiting Blue Mountain with kids, you will want to stay closer to the village. There are many options of staying right in the village, but they come with a higher price tag. Some places you can stay at are: Village Suites, Blue Mountain Inn, Blue Mountain Resort, Mosaic – Boutique Suites, Rivergrass – Resort Homes, Historic Snowbridge – Resort Homes, Mountain Walk – Resort Homes, Wintergreen – Resort Homes, Cachet Crossing – Resort Homes and Chateau Ridge – Resort Homes.
The Chateau Ridge is a 10 mins walk from the village and one we found was most reasonably priced.
Some other options you have are booking a VRBO or AirBnb.
Some hotels also offer packages. This means that if you book to stay at certain hotels, they offer you passes for activities at Blue Mountain. You can check these deals and packages here.
Places to eat
There are so many options for those looking to grab a bite at the village. From apps to main course meals to fine dinings to desserts or even ice cream, there are numerous options for food. Grab a quick bite or sit on one of the patios and enjoy the live music in the village – you will not run out of places to eat at. There are a variety of cuisines you can choose from and there are different price ranges to fit every kind of budget.
