Comprehensive Travel Checklists for INFANTS!

Travelling with an infant can be quite tedious and daunting for new and first time parents. There seems to be endless number of things you need to take with you. To make your packing easier, we have prepared a comprehensive travel checklists for infants. Having been on 2 flights and a cruise with Myrra at 3 months and 11 months of age and then again with Amarra at 6 months old, we are quite confident with what all to take!

I also want to show you guys what we pack in our diaper bag and handbag for our infant!

Diaper bag

Some of our must haves are, boiled water, formula, bottles and sippy cups. We also keep an extra pair of clothes, baby wipes, diapers, diaper rash cream. For food, we keep a pack of food puree. For miscellaneous items, we keep some snacks, toys, pacifiers, teethers, baby banz, blanket and change pad. I keep some Advil on hand just incase we need it.

Handbag

This is where most of my bigger things are! I keep a can of formula, more food pouches, extra pairs of clothes, jacket, more diapers, medication bag (I usually carry bottles less than 100mL in my handbag and the bigger bottles in our checked bag).

I try to keep my diaper bag very light so it is easier to find things during landing and take off. You can always open your handbag if you need anything during your flight!

Comprehensive travel checklists for infants

I have attached two printable comprehensive travel checklists for infants. Please make sure if there is anything specific your baby needs, you take that along as well.

Tips:

  • If you are going to a big city, make sure you only take diapers for the first few days. Once you reach your destination and settle down, you can always buy more – this really helps with travelling lighter.
  • NEVER EVER take less formula with you – Different cities around the globe carry different baby formula brands. It is not necessary that they will have the brand you use. Unless you have made sure that the exact same formula is available there, always always overpack formula!
  • You can buy food pouches or purees at your destination so make sure you pack enough for the first few days.
  • You can take your breast pump on the aircraft – I use to leave mine in my handbag but you can always carry it in a tote bag or your purse.
  • Try to line babies feeds during landing and take off to help with the air pressure change. You can also use Baby Banz if the baby is willing.
  • If you are taking a car seat on the aircraft, make sure it is FAA approved otherwise, airlines can reject the car seat.

If you are planning to travel with your toddler, you can also download and print our comprehensive travel checklists for toddlers but clicking here!

If there is anything additional you take with you for your baby, please let me know in the comments below. I hope our comprehensive travel checklists for infants helps you have a relaxed trip by ensuring your baby is well take care off!

  1. I always bring my baby carrier. It makes it easy to carry baby and put older kids or bags in the stroller. This is a helpful list and makes me want to book a vacation NOW! 🙂

  2. These might not do anything, but we always pack pacifier wipes! They are good grade wipes so we feel comfortable using them. They’re great for when the pacifier falls throughout a busy day out!

    1. The printable content is so helpful! I know if I ever travel with my little ones, which will probably be soon, i should visit here first.

  3. My kids were always attached to a specific sleep comfort security blanket! We had to carry those all over the world with us. Haha. Great tips!

  4. We recently took our first trip with the baby and we took a little bit of baby food. We bought more while we were there. Its much easier this way!

    1. Yes! Completely agree. We found that our little one loved the baby food we bought from our destinations. They had more tropical foods such as guava and she LOVED IT!

  5. This is a very comprehensive list! Probably one of the most complete lists I have found!
When we flew internationally with my oldest (almost 2 at the time), we brought her carseat on the plane. It helped to know how to install it with a seat belt vs. the LATCH. We also had a type of hand cart to attach to the seat for moving around the airport. So much easier than carrying it around.

    1. Thank you so much! We have tried finding comprehensive lists before our travels and always ended up forgetting things so made our own 🙂 definitely helps knowing how to install those seats – they are not always easy!!

  6. this was a great read. I remember riding in a car for 12 hours with my kids going to South Carolina. It was not easy because of all the stopping we had to do. I was so glad when they got older. Its not always easy traveling with babies but there are ways around it to make it less stressful.

    1. Thank you so much! We definitely dont mind getting over this phase but once ur older one will be out, our little one will be in it haha.. we still have a while I guess! lol
